FOX News goes too far...(takes a cheapshot at the Candian Military)

Now normally I try my best to steer clear of political topics.. (those of you from the old Gameentrophy site know what I mean) and I espcially avoid listening to stuff I hear on Fox news..for obvious reasons...But I heard of this on the national news here, plus with some of the patients I work with in dialysis and vetrans get also have as patients (Liberty Place a rehab/retirement home for vetrans of WWII. Korean war, Desert Storm and some recent troops from Afganistan) so I saw the clip for myself...here it is...

I would LOVE for these guys to come over and address these claims to all the vet patients we have here in dialysis plus the ones that survived Afganistan.. or better still have these statements to the some of the familes that have lost thier sons/daughters (4 of them just last week from 4 diffrent familes too I might add) and adress the same thing....this is UNACEPTIBLE and there should be an apology...but I get the feeling thats not goning to happen...

And I know not all Americans are like this...but it makes you wonder if this is how they treat your alies? what do you do for your ememies??

Haven't watched the video as I can't at the moment, but I've Googled and around and seen what he's actually said, and God he's a bit of a dickhead isn't he?! Even if he was "joking" which I think he wasn't, you don't say stuff like that, you just don't. It's a bit in bad taste.

I still don't understand why so many Canadians and Americans don't get on with each other!

I don't get it either. I have never had any reason or have found anything to pick on Canada about. Of all the Canadians I have met, and that would be many, I never found much difference.

I think it goes back to just after 9'11, and more specificly the war in Iraq. Many in Canada (as with others thoughrout the world) were pondering why suddenly attack Iraq, exppcally so close to after 9'11? So when we were asked to join forces to engage Iraqi troops and such, our PM at the time, Jean Chriethen, and the govt decided not to join. Some in the US found this to be shocking and thought Canadians were turning their backs on them (which isnt the case btw) so found fault with Canada with anything that was a problem. (such as immagration securites, border patrol etc...many of these I might add were never a issue from before) So at some point Canadians were getting rather annoyed with all the new polices the US was implementing...particulary those involving imports and exports (Lumber espcailly which is still a hot button issues with US/Canadian FAFTA elements.

But getting back to topic, As the iraqi war went on, more resentment started building against the US president at the time (Bush) and his adminsitration, by alot of other countries in the world...incliding the friendlier ones. Alot in the US really didnt know what to make of it since they hadnt had a largely unpopular president on a worldwide basis since Nixion (I think). However this resentment then focused on the people of the US after Bush won his 2nd election over Kerry. I think many were shocked to see him elected again and were getting more irratated with the US on a whole...a fair portion of Canada included. So with all of that happening till now, relations with Canada and the US have been strained somewhat compared to 15-20 years ago. Of course with all the more recent things happening nowadays...(the US dollar collapsing, the reccesion, Obama getting elected, the bailouts and the Afgaian and Iraq wars..) things still change.

Dont get me wrong, there are bad apples in any soceity, or those that give a knew-jeark reaction to anything that they might not agree with or is the opposite to what they belived..(hence the fights I had with Devine back in the days) and the actions of a few shouldnt reflect on entire country. Stlll what those guys on that Red eye show said was in very poor taste, and very badly timed.

Don't take it to heart. While some of our talking heads, (and sadly, even some of our people,) like to slam Canada, not all of us are that way. In fact, many of us wonder why this is going on. You haven't done anything to draw our ire. I can't help but wonder if these people would be so quick to slander them if they only knew how much you guys truly help us out. Sadly, a great deal of the populace is ignorant to history of many forms, including recent North American history. So they may not even know that you played a pivotal role in World War II. Pathetic, is it not?

Also, something you should take into account is that while some of our people crack jokes about Canada, on many occasions, it is simply light ribbing. It doesn't mean that they hate Canada, or even dislike it.
