Can it be true? Now that the Wii is confirmed as the new home of violent hardcore gaming is the time right for a remake of good old Resi 2?

Japanese fan board 2ch has popped up a rumor concerning a possible remake of Biohazard 2 (aka Resident Evil 2 - but you knew that, right?) that will be exclusive to the Wii.

If the rumor is correct — and when has a random post on a Japanese fan site ever been wrong? — then we will be treated to a full Wii-ified remake, with some additional story elements. There will be a new 'swordsman' enemy (sword waggling minigame, anyone?) and 'Resident Evil 4 Viewpoints', which could mean anything - possibly 3rd-person over-the-shoulder stuff?

Its more than likely just bobbins, but even the slightest hint of RE2 is better than no RE2 at all.

I'd be really happy if they did, as long as it was nothing like Umbrella Chronicles, and more like RE4 was but not as "action" like if you know what I mean. It does sound promising, and like you've said CFH- Kotaku are rarely wrong. If it's in the same sort of style REmake was then it could sell loads, so why wouldn't they do it? I'm keeping my fingers crossed, because they'll have tonnes of time to work on one after 5 is released.

Here is something else I just read regarding a possible remake. Who know what Jun Takeuchi's slightly misleading statement means. It really doesn't shed that much more light, but at least they aren't against the idea.

What's next for Takeuchi? The producer, while not confirming or announcing anything, did offer a very diplomatic comment regarding a possible remake of fan favorite Resident Evil 2. "You know, I think there is the demand for it. It's certainly something we would like to consider and think about," said Takeuchi, "but, quite frankly our hands are full with Resident Evil 5 right now, and trying to get that out of the door, so we're going to have to put all of our focus on Resident Evil 5 for the moment." Yeah, let the Capcom execs think about remakes.

After 5 is out, you never know! He says they'd be up for it, I think there's an 80% chance of it. I will definitely get that if it's released and I'm sure 74859743543956 people would, Wii sales are still MASSIVE and on top of that they are the cheapest of the three major consoles out at the moment, so they must be silly not to do it. They'd make a fortune.

Sucks that wii gets all the old school style resi games, remakes they may be but still new resi 5 will be good but not a good resi game, like 4

A remake of re2 sounds freakin awesome since i have a wii ^_^. I never found the resident series scary, but ive always loved it.

Yeah I know what your talking about, the resident evil remake made me feel that way sort of.

Good question. I don't mind another RE shooter game, but I will be pretty disappointed if this is suppose to be the RE 2 sequel.
